As a journalist, I learned that everyone has a story to tell.
As a filmmaker, I learned how to tell these stories.
I joined The Dispatch staff freshman year nervous yet excited for a world of opportunity.
I am a current senior at James Bowie High School and the digital Editor-in-Chief of The Dispatch Online. This year marks my second year as the Editor-in-Chief and my fourth year on staff. Becoming a journalist has allowed me to mix both my love for filmmaking and telling stories. Through my time on staff, I have created videos covering everything from football games to the presidential election and found stories including a group of students who started a band and a singer promoting her message. I have pored over analytics to social media coverage and challenged myself to show diversity through stories about student-led events on campus.
I have had the opportunity to create many videos and share many stories about people and events on my campus.
Over the years I have produced many videos, news stories, art, and social media content for The Dispatch. This past year, The Dispatch Online received an ILPC Gold Star and currently holds the SNO Distinguished Site award.
Next year I will be attending New York University in the fall and I plan on double-majoring in Film and Television and Business. I have hopes to join a student publication on campus while pursuing creative internships. Outside of journalism, I enjoy working as a production assistant on local film sets as well as creating my own content. I am a part of National Honor Society, National Charity League, and BowieToons. My experience as a journalist has helped me understand how to craft compelling, informational, and inspiring stories. In college, I aspire to continue creating journalistic content through the medium of film.
