Design is the key to keeping readers and viewers engaged and effectively telling a story. Journalism has allowed me to create various designs and learn more about software such as InDesign and Photoshop.
From print to online
A big responsibility I have is converting our print edition stories for web use. I start by looking at the InDesign files and copying and pasting the text into a Google Document. Next, I add the headline and story to WordPress. I then use SNO's built-in features to format the text, embed quotes, and add images in a compelling way. I enjoy using SNO's templates to engage the audience.

Here is the original spread, created by one of my peers.

Here is how it ended up looking online after I reformatted it. Click on the picture to view the full story.
Webpage design
I designed the website to have tabs based on our most trending work. I also change the header image seasonally.
Video story thumbnails

I use Photoshop to create each of the thumbnails for my videos.
I started out using text with varying fonts on each video.
Later on, I ultimately settled for simplicity. Each video now simply has our "D" logo at the top for consistency and a recognizable look.
I created this animated logo to be included in some of our online content during the pandemic.
Art
I've always had a love and passion for digital art since middle school, and I have used that as an opportunity to create pieces for online stories.
